pGCC5 is a clone of Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Gc) chromosomal DNA containing the Cg8 transposon insertion, which does not affect recombination phenotypes (Mehr and Seifert, 1997) inserted into pHSS6 at the ClaI site.
Used to create strains to complement mutations using the NICS system (Mehr and Seifert, 1998; Mehr, 2000). Insert a functional copy of the gene ectopically at an unlinked chromosomal locus between the lctP and aspC genes under control of its endogenous promoter and linked to a Cam resistance cassette.
Addgene has sequenced a portion of this plasmid for verification.
