- Chimeric chicken conalbumin promoter/SV40 early gene recombinants grown in Hela cells. The 72-bp repeat (found 5' to the SV40 promoter) is a potentiator of initiation of transcription from 'tata' box-dependent and box--independent natural or substitute promoter elements. The potential proximal promoter sequences are activated in preference to more distal ones.
