Thank you for supporting Addgene! We appreciate it. Addgene has implemented some updates to our transparency and privacy policy in light of the new GDPR standards. In order to share and receive materials through Addgene using your account, please acknowledge that you have read and understood Addgene’s collection, storage, and use of your name, your organization (and whether it is an academic/nonprofit organization), your email address, your mailing address, your principal investigator or lab supervisor, and, at your option, your phone number, as provided below.
(1) Export control - Export regulations prohibit U.S. companies from doing business with certain countries, organizations, and individuals. We will compare the information you provide against federally provided lists and regulations.
(2) Contractual Restrictions - We need to know whether your organization is an academic/nonprofit entity, because Addgene is contractually prohibited from distributing much of its library to for-profit entities.
(3) Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) - Addgene cannot transfer material without a signed MTA between the depositing and requesting organizations. In order to facilitate the MTA’s completion, Addgene needs the names of the organizations and scientists sharing the materials (listed as PROVIDER, PROVIDER SCIENTIST, RECIPIENT and RECIPIENT SCIENTIST on the MTA), the principal investigators (or whoever else supervises the respective labs) (if different), and the addresses of each lab.
(4) Records Keeping and Reporting - Addgene records and stores each executed MTA. Access is provided in the following ways:
a. Depositing and requesting organizations’ administrative offices will be provided access through an Addgene-administrator’s’ account. Summary reports of the organization’s material transfer activity are emailed to these administrators on a daily, weekly or monthly basis depending on their chosen preset.
b. Principal investigators will receive emailed summaries of material distributions or incoming materials, as the case may be, with respect to your specific material transfer activity.
c. You will have access to your activity and that of your lab through your own respective accounts.
(5) Physical Shipments - We will ship your deposit kits and materials to the address that you provide. If you provided us with a phone number, we may call you to more expeditiously resolve any shipping difficulties that may arise.
(6) Deactivation - In the event that you wish to stop receiving reports and summaries, please reach out to us directly at
[email protected] and we will deactivate your account. Upon deactivation, you will no longer be able to share or receive new materials from Addgene.
(7) Further Use - Following deactivation, Addgene will need to retain your data in fulfillment of its MTA and recordkeeping and reporting obligations.
