ag_beta_logo_badge_trimmed.png DNA Service: Cloning Grade DNA

ag_cgDNA_thumbnail@2x.png

Addgene is offering Cloning Grade DNA (cgDNA) for over 200 plasmids in our collection. The plasmids available in this format include a variety of popular plasmids and backbones with high cloning potential. By making these plasmids available as cgDNA, we hope to aid scientists who want to immediately start cloning upon arrival of their plasmid from Addgene - reducing the time to experiments by removing the amplification and extraction steps required when one receives plasmids in bacterial stabs.

Cloning Grade DNA is an Addgene Beta service. Learn more about Addgene's Beta Projects and how you can provide us with input and feedback on this service.

FAQ

  1. What Quality Control analyses are performed on my cloning grade DNA order?
For each cloning grade DNA prep, the plasmid sequence has been validated by next generation sequencing. The DNA concentration and 260/280 ratio has been determined by spectrophotometer. Other methods of quantification may yield slightly different DNA concentrations.
  2. Can I directly transfect cloning grade DNA into cells?
Cloning grade DNA is designed for use in cloning applications. Direct transfection into cells is not recommended.
  3. Can I order more than 2 µg of cloning grade DNA?
At this time, to order more than 2 µg of a single plasmid, multiple orders would need to be placed through our website. Every order will need to be completed independently including the check out and will require separate shipping charges.
  4. Where can I find cloning resources or scientific support?
Please see our Addgene Protocols for resources you may find helpful. Our Scientific and Customer Support Teams are also available to provide assistance at [email protected].

Don’t See What You’re Looking For?

At this time, Addgene has made a limited number of plasmids available as cloning grade DNA that we hope to be broadly useful to the scientific community. If there is a plasmid that you would like to see available as cloning grade DNA, please let us know using the Cloning Grade DNA Suggestion Form. Please note that this does not guarantee that Addgene will make cloning grade DNA preps of this plasmid available, but helps to inform us of which plasmids would be most helpful to requesting scientists.
